Biodiesel Quality

Currently, most biodiesel produced in North America is made from soybean oil because soybeans constitute an abundant feedstock. But no matter what the process or feedstock, the biodiesel produced must meet fuel-grade quality standards, ASTM D6751 or EN 14214, to be considered a fuel. This distinguishes biodiesel from chemical-grade fatty acid methyl esters and minimizes any changes in engine performance and durability.

Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel in the US to successfully complete EPA Tier 1 Health Effects Testing under section 211 (b) of the Clean Air Act.
