Integrated Oilseed Extraction and Biodiesel Refinery
BFuel Canada Corp. is in the final stages of engineering to build an integrated oilseed crushing and biodiesel refining facility in the County of Lethbridge, Alberta.
This facility will be built in two stages:
Phase 1: Biodiesel Refining Facility; Commissioning Date: June 29, 2011
Phase 2: Oilseed Crushing Facility; Development to start after Phase 1
Key highlights of the Chin Lakes facility include:
- Located on 20 acres of BFuel owned property near Chin Alberta
- Production capacity of 50 million litres of biodiesel per year
- State-of-the-art biodiesel production technology from Europe
- Production co-products of an enhanced capacity of 10,000 tonnes of pharmaceutical grade glycerine
- Controlling feed stock from source; crush through to refining
- Engage regional feedstock producers as suppliers and investment partners
- Added revenue of by-products sales; glycerine/meal/fertilizer
- Participate in Federal & Provincial Agricultural and Biofuels Funding
- Positive local economic impact via employment, crop diversification, transportation sourcing
Phase 1 Facility production statistics:
- BFuel has sourced locally the entire raw oil supply for refining into biodiesel
- Scheduled to begin construction in Q3, 2010 and commence production in Q3 2011
Fully Integrated Facility production statistics:
- Annually requires 150,000 acres of canola or alternative feedstocks
- 5 million bushels / 133,000 TPY of canola seed
- Processing 400 metric tonnes (MT) of seed per day
- Produces 150,000 litres of biodiesel per day
- 50 million litres/year
- By-products include 70,000 MT of canola meal annually
- 9,600 MT of pharmaceutical grade glycerine
- 2,500 t Potassium Sulphate Fertilizer
- The fully integrated facility is designed to operate 24 hours/day, seven days a week and to employ 40 full time staff.
BFuel Canada Corp's goal is to create and deliver solutions that reduce energy use, greenhouse gases and other emissions. BFuel Canada's mission is not only to substantially increase the profile and use of biodiesel in Canada, but also to do it with the producer as an active partner/participant who will also benefit as an end user.
