Southern Alberta Alternative Energy Partnership (SAAEP)

The Southern Alberta Alternative Energy Partnership (SAAEP) represents 37 communities and municipalities in southern Alberta. Acting in partnership the SAAEP and BFuel have applied and been approved for a federal grant, the Biofuels Opportunities for Producers Initiative (BOPI), sponsored by an Ag Canada program designed to partner together farmers and industry. The grant approval for the maximum contribution of $300,000 is supporting the completion of four separate but related research studies:

• Biodiesel feasibility study - complete
• The Green Growth Plan Public consultation - complete
• Waste to Energy analysis - Fall 2007
• Bio-energy cluster development study - Fall 2007
